Forever foster program

The Forever Foster Program at Saskatoon Parrot Rescue is designed for birds who need a little extra care and commitment. These parrots may have medical conditions, physical limitations, or may be a species restricted in Saskatchewan, meaning they cannot be adopted into private ownership.
Instead, they are placed in carefully selected homes through our Forever Foster Program, where they can receive the lifelong care and stability they deserve!
In this program, Saskatoon Parrot Rescue matches one bird to each Forever Foster home based on compatibility, experience, and household environment. This placement is permanent, allowing the bird to settle into a consistent, loving home while remaining under the care of the rescue.

All costs associated with the bird are fully covered by Saskatoon Parrot Rescue, including but not limited to:
• Cage and setup
• Perches and toys
• Food and dietary needs
• Medications and veterinary care
• Any additional supplies required to support the bird’s specific needs

Forever Fosters play an essential hands-on role in the bird’s daily care! Depending on the bird, this may include transporting them to appointments at our avian veterinarian, Evergreen Veterinary Clinic in Saskatoon, and administering medications such as oral treatments or antibiotics when needed.
Our team works closely with every Forever Foster to ensure both the bird and caregiver feel supported. Each home is paired with a dedicated team member who provides ongoing guidance and communication through regular check-ins, messaging, and occasional home visits. We also assist with services such as nail trims and general care support.

The Forever Foster Program is a meaningful way to provide a safe, stable, and compassionate home for birds who may not otherwise have the opportunity for placement, while knowing you are never alone in their care.
