Adoptable Birds
The following is a list of birds currently up for adoption. Due to the costs involved with the care of these birds (such as vet care, food, toys, etc.) we do charge a small and reasonable adoption fee for all of our birds. If you are interested contact info@saskatoonparrotrescue.ca for more information or fill out an application form.
Chocolate Milk and Jamieson
Chocolate Milk came into the care of SPR at the same time as Hashbrown and Lemon. We have added him with Jamieson and would like to adopt them out as a pair. Chocolate milk hatched the same time as Hashbrown and Lemon, late 2023 / early 2024. Jamieson's age is unknown. Their diets consist of budgie seed with prime vitamin supplements, fresh strawberries and lettuce. Check back for more information regarding their personalities once their foster has spent time to get to know them.
Hashbrown and Lemon
These two gals hatched in late 2023 / early 2024. Their diet currently consists of budgie seed with Prime vitamin supplements and they absolutely love fresh strawberries and lettuce! They have only been with their foster for a couple days, so we will be updating again soon with information regarding their personalities! Stay tuned! In the meantime, you can still apply!
Burt
Words from his foster "Such a good boy! He is eating chop, seed mix, prime vitamins and fruits and veggies. Burt likes to chat with you and will ride on head or shoulder." *more information to come*
Peebs and Mr. Budgie (pending adoption)
This dynamic duo consists of a cockatiel and his little side kick, both male. Peebs hatched in 2021, Mr. Budgie hatched in 2023. Peebs loves to sing and dance! He has a small vocabulary and a musical personality, saying "what ya doing?" "peekaboo" "I love you". Mr. Budgie says "hi" "peekaboo" "love you". They both sing/whistle the tune from the Adam’s Family, "if you’re happy and you know it" and a song called "September". They’re used to being out of their cage, to sit on your head while winning your heart with their sweet serenades. This fella's sleep in an uncovered cage at night and their diet consists of budgie seed and fresh fruit/vegetables.
Betty and Bertha
These two female budgies hatched in Dec 2024. Their diet consists of budgie seed with Prime vitamins. They also love eating fresh vegetables that their foster chops up for them daily. Betty is an escape artist, and has even figured out how to untwist a "twist tie" from her cage to let herself out lol. More information to come regarding personalities
Flock - 3 male budgies, one female budgie. Pipes, Phoenix, Colbalt, Luna
We don't normally adopt out a flock with both sexes. However, these ones have been bonded and have not shown any interest in mating. Screening will ensure the applicant has no intentions of attempting to breed. They are all on budgie seed with Prime vitamin supplements and ghet covered at night. Willl be adopted with the cage, dishes, toys and a weeks worth of food. Pipes- Hatched in 2024 and best friends with Colbalt! These two have high-speed race's around the living room of their foster. Colbalt- Hatched in 2024 and has so much energy! Usually wins the race with Pipes. Phoenix- Age is unknown, and bonded with Luna in particular. Attacked by a cat (many, many moons ago) which permanently injured his wing. This has caused him to have certain special needs which includes the administration of pain medication and not taking part in the high-speed races with Pipes and Colbalt for example. He is not very good at flying, but sometimes can't help himself and like the little train who chants "I think I can, I think I can", he thinks he can, however he usually fly's into a wall and then needs a bit of assistance to get back to his perch. He is a real sweetheart. Luna- This pretty girl's age is unknown. The blue of her feathers are soft and gentle, really quite unique and beautiful. She helps take care of Phoenix, and will leave his side to occasionally take part in the race's, but mostly enjoys to just explore outside of her cage and puts herself to bed when the sun goes down.
Flock- 4 female budgies. Chicklette, Chicken, Elle, Sunshine
These girls can be separated if need be, however we would like to have them adopted as one flock. The adoption is at a reduced price and includes a beautiful large cage, dishes, toys for enrichment and about one weeks worth of food. Chicklette is a beautiful bright yellow birdie, hatched in April 2025, with a gentle spirit and a bright future ahead. After being kept clipped and suffering an injury, she deserves the chance to spread her wings, feel safe, and enjoy the freedom to fly. She is not covered at night and is ready for a loving home where she can truly shine. She is on a budgie seed diet with Prime vitamin supplements. Elle - more information coming soon Sunshine- more information coming soon Chicken's age is unknown. Her diet consists of budgie seed with Prime vitamins and does not get covered at night.
Dominic (pending adoption)
Dominic is a beautiful tri-coloured budgie with a little rockstar energy, named after Yungblud. Hatched in December 2024, this sweet boy is ready to bring a bit of music, charm, and colour to his forever home. He's on a seed diet with Prime vitamin supplements, and he doesn't need to be covered at night- just a cozy perch and a loving flock to sing to... and lots of toys, of course!
Theo and Moki
Theo and Moki are a bonded pair of male budgies, age unknown. Their owner passed away, and these two boys need someone to love them as much as their owner did. They’re a sweet pair. They are unable to fly at the moment, so be cautious if you let them out of their cage.
PEEPS
PEEPS is a 12 year old male conure (hatched in 2013) His foster humans don't find him to be very loud, he does not get covered at night and is quiet until they get up in the morning. Peeps does not have a vocabulary, nor does he show any interest in mirroring any actions, whistles, sounds, but he will still win your heart... as long as you play by his rules and share your snacks with him. Typical conure 🙂 LOVES his fresh chop mixture. His favourite treat is an almond, but throughly enjoys all different kinds of nuts. He loves fruit and greens, popcorn and corn. He just loves to eat! His foster can't think of anything that Peeps doesn't like. He’s a friendly little fella, but will bite when scared or pushed to do something he doesn’t want to do. He loves to fly around, and usually ends up on your head or shoulders. He is very tame to step up on your finger or stick. He accepts scritches when he wants them, but he’ll soon let you know pin feathers are off limits. He enjoys his spray baths, or bathing under the kitchen faucet. Loves washing his feet. 🥰 Peeps diet consists of Harrison’s, Tropican, His favourite toys are dangly toys and bells. Not a huge chewer of wood toys. Peeps needs a home where patience is abundant, so he will feel safe and form a trust bond. Conures can be excellent companions, but need to be able to trust, as with all birds. In his previous and current foster home, he’s showed a preference for males at the beginning, but after a while eventually becomes more fond of the females in the house. Peeps gets along with other birds and dogs, but will traumatize any cat nearby.
Sasha
Sasha is a female Goffin cockatoo, we’re guessing early 20s. Sasha’s good points: LOVES hanging out with you. She’ll sit on your shoulder or chest all day if you let her, lol. Likes head scratches and loves to be kissed. She’s hand tamed. Takes a bit of work to get her to step up on command, but she eventually will. She’s used to dogs. Her favourite trick is show you her “big wings!” 😁 Sasha’s difficult points: She’s a cockatoo. She screams, she loves to chew on anything and everything. She needs to be able to see her people when you’re home. She’s stubborn. Sasha has been around other birds, but best suited to a home with no other birds. She does tolerate other parrots, but has been known to strike out at them. Sasha would be best suited in a home with an older person or couple. Preferably with some bird knowledge. With the right person, she’s a real sweetheart . As with all our adoptions, we are willing to help with the transition to her new home. We want both you and Sasha to have a rewarding, lifelong bond.
Kaylee aka KayB
Kaylee aka KayB is a presumed female Moluccan cockatoo. KB’s foster has been working with her for months and has made great progress. KB is a very intelligent, but complicated cockatoo. She MUST go to a home with extensive bird behaviour knowledge. While she can be cuddly, cute - and entertaining one minute, she can switch at a moments notice. Most of her bad behaviour aka biting comes from putting her in an uncomfortable position and not reading her body language. We are willing to work with any potential adopters to ensure that KayB and her new family have a long and happy life.
